About Don & Robin Smith
Don was born in Rockford, IL. He was the youngest of 5 children. Two wonderful parents raised him, but he was a momma’s boy like me. Don’s mom was devoted to God and the scriptures and was very active in every aspect of the church. He attended church several times a week with his mom and developed a love for the scriptures and God’s people. Don’s dad and mother were part of the migration from the South to the North, so Don was raised as a Southern gentleman with the vital work effort, respect for elders, and wisdom of his parents. Don was a high school standout in sports, especially football. He started to date his excellent partner of 36 years in high school, and they decided to attend the same college. I met Minister Smith our first year of college at Southern Illinois University. We bonded over our search for truth and a stronger relationship with God. We also used our time at school to stand up for issues that affected underrepresented people at the University. Don wrote a series of opinion columns that challenged every facet of student life at the University. He stirred the consciousness of the administrators, faculty, and students. He was bold, courageous, and intentional in his ideas. At that early age, Don focused on bringing individuals back to God and His Word. After graduation, Don was ordained to the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, and he and Robin led a church in Rockford, IL, for several years. After several years in Rockford, Don and Robin relocated to Colorado, raised their two wonderful children, and continued to hold forth the Word of Light. Don completed his Masters’s in Theology and started the seeds for Valiant for Truth Ministries.
